Introduction to the summer internship program for medical students of the Chinese University of Hong Kong

After Hong Kong’s reversion to China, with a view to deepen Hong Kong students' understanding of the mainland, Beijing municipal education commission signed an agreement with the Chinese university of Hong Kong in 1999 to provide summer internship opportunities for students of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Since then, Beijing municipal education commission has entrusted Capital Medical University and Xuanwu hospital to accomplish the medical students’ internship program. Nearly 30 students study in our hospital for four weeks in June, including clinical practice, hospital management practice and scientific research.

In 2013, funded by the ministry of education, we greatly added the diversified traditional cultural activities on the basis of previous medical courses. Over the years, with continuous improvement of course design and implementation and high-quality clinical teaching, the program has high degree of participation and satisfaction, which has been highly appraised by the ministry of education, Beijing municipal education commission and the Chinese university of Hong Kong.
